Bucharest, January 15, 2025 – Starting today, the airline AnimaWings will connect the city of Cluj-Napoca with the capital of Romania, Bucharest. The flights will be operated with 8 weekly frequencies, on Mondays (2 frequencies), Wednesdays (2 frequencies), Thursdays, Fridays (2 frequencies) and Sundays, and tickets can be booked on the airline's website: animawings.com or in the network of accredited agencies and partners.
"AnimaWings is consolidating its presence on the domestic market by connecting the most important economic centers of Romania, and this is the flight through which we inaugurate this dream of ours, to become "The Heart of Romania", says Marius Pandel, AnimaWings shareholder. "We managed to bring forward the date of the first flight, originally planned for March, mainly due to the very high demand for fast and comfortable flights between these two big cities of the country."
The moment of the first flight, of great importance for the company and passengers, was marked by an inaugural event held in Cluj - Napoca on January 15, 2025, with the support of AnimaWings' strategic partners - Cluj International Airport and Cluj County Council.
The General Director of Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, Mr. David Ciceo, said: "This new domestic flight contributes to strengthening the links between the most important economic and cultural centers of Romania.
Cluj International Airport continues to invest in the development of its network of air routes, and the partnership with AnimaWings marks an important step in expanding the available transport options. Today's inaugural event underscores our shared commitment to increasing regional connectivity.
We are confident that the initiative of these new domestic flights will be appreciated by our passengers and will contribute to strengthening mobility between Cluj and the country's capital."
Viorel Federiga, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport: "We congratulate the AnimaWings company for its vision to connect the most important cities in Romania and for the efforts to launch this route earlier than originally planned. We are honored to be part of this phase of growth and innovation, which brings significant benefits to passengers and business across the region.”
Fares for the Bucharest - Cluj-Napoca route start from 24.99 euros/way and include cabin baggage (8kg), free seat selection, free online and offline check-in. The company also launched corporate subscriptions, specially designed for companies that frequently use flights between the two cities, at preferential rates and benefiting from increased flexibility.
The races will be operated mainly with the new Airbus A220-300 aircraft that entered the AnimaWings fleet at the end of 2024. They pollute 25% less, produce 50% less noise and consume 25% less fuel compared to the previous generation aircraft , being also able to run on up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
The configuration chosen by AnimaWings for its aircraft provides 137 seats, with five seats per row in economy class and 12 folding seats in business class, benefiting from additional space. Passengers flying in business class benefit from priority boarding and disembarking, catering included and personalized services on board, for a relaxing journey in full comfort.
"With the high number of flights, AnimaWings will become the main operator of premium domestic flights, especially thanks to our strategy of being a smart cost operator, with optimized fares, high quality of services, an attractive package of services included in the price and the modern fleet, unique in Romania", says Marius Pandel. "Practically, it will be incomparably more efficient in terms of costs and time to choose to travel by plane instead of by car, especially since the flight schedules are optimal, both for the business and leisure segments, the flights being morning and evening."
The next domestic routes in the AnimaWings plans will be the connections Bucharest - Iasi and Bucharest - Oradea and return, the first flights to be made starting from the first week of March 2025, under the same conditions of increased comfort, at affordable rates.
