Pet On Board
As standard, each passenger may travel with one (1) pet (cat or dog) in the cabin, carried in a special crate/container. With the exception of certain breeds, only cats and dogs (including guide dogs - see section "Traveling with Service Animals (SVAN)" may travel in the aircraft cabin or hold.
The pet must be at least 12 weeks old, have a valid passport, have a microchip or tattoo (if applied before 03/07/2011) and have a rabies vaccination. If the animal has been vaccinated against rabies for the first time, it cannot travel unless 21 days have passed since the vaccination date. The pet must be clean, odor free, healthy, harmless, not nursing and not pregnant. Also, the pet should not be sedated.
The passenger is responsible for and must provide and hold all necessary documentation for ownership and transportation as required by law, such as export/import/transit permits, health/vaccination certificates, passports, etc. We also recommend that Animawings passengers check and comply with the relevant legislative provisions by consulting the official websites of the authorities or by contacting them directly in the country of transit and/or destination. For more information, please visit the European Union's official website for pet travel regulations
Passengers intending to travel with their pets in the cabin or hold must report to the airport check-in counter at least 90 minutes before take-off to complete check-in formalities, even if they have checked in online or have no checked-in baggage. They are required to bring the necessary documents to facilitate the PET travel formalities.
In the cabin
- As standard, each passenger can travel with one (1) pet (cat or dog) in the cabin, carried in a special cage/container. The maximum weight allowed for a pet, together with its container, is eight (8) kilograms. If you want to travel with more than one pet, they must be of the same species, know each other and be transported in the same special box/container. Also, their weight must not exceed the maximum allowed weight of (8) kilograms (including the container).
- Pets must be carried in a special sealed cage/container, which the passenger is responsible for providing. The container must not exceed 45 cm long x 30 cm wide x 23 cm high. The container must be placed under the seat in front of the passenger. Passengers traveling with pets in the cabin CANNOT, for safety and security reasons, select emergency exit seats or adjacent row seats (in front of or behind the emergency exit rows). Also, they can only select their window seat.
- The maximum number of pets accepted on board Animawings aircraft is 5 per flight segment.
For each pet / cage, a fee of 55 euros/segment will be paid.
In the hold
- The AVIH transport reservation must be made in advance. The maximum transfer time allowed is 3 hours. If the duration of the transfer exceeds this interval, the animal will not be accepted for transport.
- It is recommended that the total weight of the pet together with the cage does not exceed 50 kg. The cage must be large enough for the animal to stand upright, turn around, and lie down in a natural position. It must be clean, leak-proof, escape-proof, and claw-proof. The cage must be suitable for air transportation and handling, allowing for feeding, watering, and cleaning. The shipper or passenger is responsible for providing absorbent bedding inside the container, appropriate for the species being transported. Straw is not permitted, as many countries prohibit its importation. The cage must have adequate ventilation on at least three sides. If the cage has removable wheels, they must be removed by the pet owner before transport to ensure proper securing in the hold.
The price for the transport of a pet in the hold is 120 euros each way.
