Travelling with Service Animals (SVAN)
As standard, passengers are permitted to travel with one (1) trained service dog (SVAN) certified by an organization that is a full member of Assistance Dogs International (ADI) or the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF), the accrediting bodies for assistance dog organizations worldwide.
Under national and international law, assistance dogs (SVANs) are accepted free of charge on board aircraft. Types of assistance animals accepted:
- Dogs trained to guide visually impaired passengers.
- Dogs trained to guide passengers with hearing impairments
- Other service dogs trained to assist e.g. epileptic or autistic passengers
- Rescue dogs
- Dogs that are in the middle of or have completed their training and are escorted by their handler for familiarisation purposes (on request). In this case, documentation is required for both the trained dog and the trainer.
Please make sure you have all the necessary documents for the SVAN (Special Visual Assistance Needed) service at the
airport, such as the companion dog certificate and any documentation required by the laws and regulations of the country
you are traveling to.
We draw the attention of Animawings passengers that emotional support animals are not allowed on our flights!
