The Art Museum of Craiova is located in the beautiful palace of the tycoon Jean Mihail.
Built between 1899 and 1907 according to the plans of the French architect Paul Gottereau, the palace impresses with its neo-baroque appearance,
with Venetian mirrors, chandeliers with Murano crystals and Carrara marble stairs.
The building has 29 rooms, the most spectacular being the Hall of Mirrors, and in the museum's patrimony there are over 8,000 works of art.
An impressive landscape monument of Romania, Romanescu Park is an oasis of greenery where the locals relax as often as they can.
Its arrangement began in 1897, according to the sketches of the architect Redont, and the park plan received the gold medal at the 1900 World's Fair in Paris.
Romanescu is the second largest park of its kind in Europe, and the racecourse here is the largest in the Balkans.
The Church of Saint Dumitru, also known as the Princely Church, the Băneasa Church or the Metropolitan Cathedral, is the oldest and most important cult edifice in Craiova.
Currently, the cathedral houses the relics of the Holy Hierarch Nifon, Patriarch of Constantinople, of Saints Sergius and Vah and of the Holy Martyr Tatiana.
