The city’s buildings are a mix of traditional Alpine and modern architecture. Book flights to Chambery and discover Chamonix city step by step. In the center of the city you will be able to visit a baroque church, and in the surroundings you will be able to admire rustic chalets, with an interesting architecture.
Here you will also find souvenir shops, luxury boutiques and restaurants with excellent cuisine.

Mer de Glace

Mer de Glace was discovered by tourists in the 19th century and is one of the largest glaciers in Europe. Mer de Glace means "Sea of Ice", which makes sense given that the glacier stretches for 7 kilometers.

The Mer de Glace can be reached by train on the Montenvers railway. It leaves the village of Chamonix and reaches the glacier in about 20 minutes. Fabulous views await you here, but also the opportunity to explore Grotte de Glace, a 100-meter-long cave.
