Located in southern Turkey, 140 kilometers from Antalya, the city of Alanya is the administrative center of the district with the same name in the province of Antalya. Located on a peninsula, the city is surrounded by fine sandy beaches, which is the main attraction.

The picturesque Ottoman cityscape, the rocky, wooded shores, the land fringed with tiny coves and the numerous caves that open between the rocks, some adorned with stalactites, give the city and the area a completely special charm. Alanya is built in steps on the mountain coast sprinkled with monuments and embellished by grandiose views. The place is predestined for tourism, because it has the longest sunny period on the entire southern coast, the beach season extending over nine months a year.

AFTER LANDING

Airport: Gazipașa Alanya (GZP)

Gazipașa Alanya Airport is only a 30-minute drive from the city (45 km).

Land transport to and from the airport

The most convenient way to get to and from the airport is by your airport partner,

the transport company Gazipașa Airport Taxi Drivers Cooperative, which operates in the terminal.

A trip by official taxi will cost much more (to Alanya - 180 TL, to Antalya - 500 TL).

The Uber service can be used from mobile applications.

WHEN TO VISIT ALANYA

Although the climate in Alanya is mild even in the winter months and the weather is always good for a visit, the best months are April, May and September.

That's if you want to visit it, not stay at the beach!

It is obvious that summer - June, July and August - are best for those who want mainly sand and sea water.

But for those who want to visit the city and its surroundings, the temperatures of 34 degrees Celsius (and higher than that) during the day are discouraging .

MAIN ATTRACTIONS IN ALANYA

Damlatas Cave

Located right at the entrance to Kleopatra Beach, close to the port and the city center, this cave with a constant temperature is made up of a lot of stalactites.

Beyond its spectacularity, the cave also has therapeutic effects for people suffering from respiratory diseases, so visiting it offers tourists a double benefit.

The Red Tower

With an octagonal shape, the tower was used for defense but also as a checkpoint on the nearby medieval shipyard, the first to be built on the Mediterranean Sea.

The name of the Red Tower was given due to the fact that, being difficult to build from stone blocks and pieces of marble from the walls of the ancient fortress for the top of the tower, the architect decided to use something easier to transport and handle, respectively red brick.

Alayie Fortress

Built in the 13th century by Alaaddin Keykubat, the fortress has a 6.5 km long stone wall and is adorned with no less than 140 towers. History records that it was built over the remains of the city in the Hellenistic period. Both in Antiquity and in the Middle Ages, given its position, the fortress was used as an administrative and military center, and also a point of defense. The castle can be reached by car, although the road is quite narrow. On foot, the road takes about an hour and is relatively tiring).
